The current Church of Saint George of Arroios was inaugurated in 1972, replacing the former church of reduced size. In the porch, there is a very beautiful Renaissance wayside cross in limestone, adorned with vegetal motives. Apart from the image of the Crucified Christ, the cross has an image of the martyr Saint Vincent, the patron saint of Lisbon. The wayside cross is allusive to the beatification of the Queen Saint Elisabeth and had an autonomous existence until the construction of the former church in the 18th Century.
