Description

Erected in 1789 on the site where a chapel would have been built by Saint Anthony’s father,  as an expression of his thanks for the miracle performed by his own son of having been acquitted of a charge of murder whilst arriving to the square where the capital punishment would be enforced. The invocation of the beheaded Saint John results from the medieval task carried out on this square. In the single eight-sided nave, please note two Rococo altarpieces and a 18th Century statue of Our Lady by Machado de Castro.
