Description
On Good Friday there never was Mass. Since early days, it was made for Him, beside the Liturgy of the Hours, the celebration of the Word of God followed by the Universal Pray and adoration of the Cross.
It is not a day of mourning, but a day when the Catholic community joins in prayer towards the Cross of Christ, the source of salvation. This day, at least since the II century, is marked through fasting: not as a penitence, but a preparation of Easter.
